Feel Safe
and Secure
Self-defense requires a combination of physical, psychological, and awareness skills. This class will teach you everything you need to know to feel confident and secure in today's ever changing world. You will learn a four-step approach to self-defense that includes awareness and avoidance procedures; diffusion and diminishment of threats; attack and escape maneuvers; and assertiveness training.
A Variety of Scenarios This is a hands-on, scenario-based workshop in which you will learn to deal with a variety of simulated physical and psychological situations. The class will teach skills to handle a multitude of situations and circumstances.
Verbal Threats Learn how to handle a verbal assault and keep it from escalating into a physical confrontation.
Setting Boundaries Violence often happens to those who are seen as easy prey. Learn how assert yourself and set up both physical and psychological boundaries to keep yourself from becoming a victim.
Acquaintance Assault The majority of sexual assaults and rapes happen at the hands of someone the victim knows. Learn how to deal effectively with this type of situation.
Non-Confrontational Stance Learn how to use the Non-Confrontational Stance. This special "readiness" stance will put a potential attacker at ease, allowing you to diffuse a dangerous situation. The Non-Confrontational Stance will also give you the upper hand should the circumstances require the use of force.
Weapons Techniques The knowledge of how to defend against a weapon can be a life-saving skill. In addition to learning weapons defense, you will also learn martial arts techniques that will allow you to utilize a variety of everyday implements to defend yourself.
Groundfighting Techniques The majority of attacks end up on the ground. Flailing inefficiently on the ground will sap your energy in seconds. Learn a variety of systematic, leveraged-based groundfighting techniques that will give you the advantage if you ever find yourself on the ground.
Legal and Moral Considerations Self-defense can have both moral and legal repercussions. Find out your rights, as well as your obligations, in a self-defense situation.

These workshops can be done onsite at your own facility or held at the Fitness Technologies studio. Self-defense programs are also taught in private and semi-private (two to four people) sessions.
